GREASE- AND OIL-RESISTANT PAPERWISE PAPER

Paper naturally absorbs moisture and grease. One of the possibilities is to provide the paper with an
environmentally friendly, compostable grease- or moisture-resistant coating or laminate. In this example, we chose
environmentally friendly unbleached PaperWise Natural 70-gram paper featuring a plant-based
bio-laminate made from starch. Suitable for the proper and safe packaging of food and non-food products.

The PaperWise paper and the bio-laminate are both independently certified for industrial
composting according to the EN-13432 standard. PaperWise paper and paperboard are even certified for the even
stricter home composting standard from DinCertco. At PaperWise,
we are familiar with bio-laminates and coatings that are already certified for home composting. By
combining these bio-plastics (of plant origin and therefore renewable) with PaperWise
paper and paperboard, the entire packaging meets the strictest environmental composting standard for
home composting, allowing the packaging to be disposed of as waste in the organic bin or on the compost heap in your garden.
Tests are currently being conducted with PaperWise paper featuring a bio-coating, so that the grease-resistant
layer can be even thinner than that of a bio-laminate. This innovation reduces the ecological footprint of the
product packaging even further. The wrapping sheets in the example are packed on a roll and feature a
tear perforation. The roll width, number of meters per roll, thickness of PaperWise paper, and type of
